This Martinborough project is built around a
group of pavilion style buildings and includes a
pool, tennis court and sheltered outdoor entertaining
areas. The design needed to respond to
both the idyllic parkland setting as well as the
extremely windy environment of Martinborough
Estate.
The simple, linear planting picks up on both the
landscape setting, the architectural style of the
Accent Architects pavilions.
The pool is located on the north side of the
house and is sheltered by the guest pavilion. A
simple courtyard connects the pool area to the
main house, while low planting allows uninterrupted
views to the surrounding landscape.
Light grey concrete and gravel provide a contrast
to the monochromatic green of the landscape
and the black of the built forms.
